Hidden Lake Lookout
I played hooky last week to hike up to the Hidden Lake peaks in the North Cascades and spend the night at the old fire lookout at 6,890 feet. It was spectacular with brilliant fall colors and panoramic mountain views. The lookout, perched up on top of a granite outcrop, was a treat to stay in. Many thanks to those who helped restore it! I brought up my art kit and had some time for a few sketches before the sunset. Before too long, the clouds closed in and we woke up to snow the next morning!

Maria it looks like you were there two days after my boyfriend and I with our cute dog. The last week of good weather, looks like you enjoyed to tranquility as much as we did. Lets ski together soon.

Maria! Great sketches and paintings! I LOVE Hidden Lake. The cool thing is the first time I went there, I was browsing through the journals and found an entry in the very first entry book from my Grandfather and 2 of my uncles (they were about 10 at the time). They had trekked in to stay the night too! Glad you are getting out and about—nice work playing hooky. ;-)

So enjoyed your photos and your video explanation and the resulting paintings of the trek above Hidden Lake. My days of doing these climb adventures are more than likely passed, but you brought such wonderful memories of sleeping on granite beds on the top of the world (or it felt like that!). Thank you.
