The Antarctic Art Contest exhibit has opened at the Museum of the North in Fairbanks! Congratulations to all of the contest winners, it was a pleasure to help judge the show. I was also invited to contribute a piece of my own art and created this “Ice Core Triptych” exploring the West Antarctic Ice Sheet ice core from multiple perspectives: the ice sheet origin, drill head, and a section of the core. Each 5.5″ x 5.5″ piece includes an ink on hot press watercolor base layer, and colored pencil on vellum overlay to reflect the layered and translucent nature of ice. The exhibit will continue in Fairbanks until August, then will travel to McMurdo, Antarctica, as well as Washington D.C.!
