New York residency

I’ve recently returned from three weeks in New York, where I had an artist-in-residency with the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies. I had a marvelous stay, meeting with the science community and creating dozens of sketches, audio recordings, and photographs. The fall colors were also spectacular! Now that I am settled back home, I will be developing my field work into a series of vignettes about the Cary Institute’s science projects. I’m happy to be back in my studio!

Beautiful sketches Maria! Love the fall colors, the light is great.
Which walnut ink do you use?

Thank you, Maria! I use a walnut drawing ink by Tom Norton designs. I like how it can be layered. This drawing is also completed on a Canson Mi-Tiente cream paper which adds to the sepia tone.
