Glide, 30" x 9" mixed media, 2012

Here’s a preview of my latest painting, just completed yesterday! It’s a companion to my earlier Landing Arctic Tern panorama, and I plan to continue to the series. I’m experimenting with sumi ink to create the black background. It has a lovely gloss, but it is challenging to create a uniform surface. The Terns are painted with a mix of watercolor and white gouache. Come see this painting and others this September in my Seattle show, On Wing: Long Distance Migration!
