Greenland Expedition & Project
I’m thrilled to announce a new expedition and project, kicking off this Spring! Imaging the Arctic, Communicating Climate Science through Art, is a collaboration with University of Washington scientist Dr. Kristin Laidre, and funded in part by generous support from the G. Unger Vetlesen Foundation. This March, I will accompany Kristin to West Greenland to investigate the effects of sea ice loss on polar bears and narwhals, iconic species of the Arctic. My field art and the scientific research will be the basis for a collection of stories, paintings, and multimedia to inspire stewardship for the Arctic and the global environment. As the project develops, materials will be available for exhibit, as well as for community and school outreach, with upcoming events to be announced. Learn more about the project at our new imagingthearctic.org website and stay tuned for news and updates!
