I finally took my first swim in Puget Sound this year and it felt great! This afternoon the tide was high, the water was calm, and periodic sun-breaks made a swim irresistible. I covered myself head-to-toe in neoprene and gear including: thin swim cap, neoprene swim cap, ear plugs, goggles, wet suit, and neoprene gloves and booties. With all this gear and swimming in salt water, I felt incredibly buoyant (I’ve previously only used my wetsuit in Lake Washington) Darin is a kayaker-extraordinaire and accompanied me with a boat in the water. I look forward to many more swims!

Other notes, I’m taking a class on painting water with a lovely artist friend of mine, Molly Hashimoto. It’s great to learn how other people work and to be encouraged to try new things. No one should work in a vacuum! I’m excited to develop some watercolors from Antarctica and out my front door.
