I have moved to Bainbridge Island, a 35 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle. A generous woman I met offered me a waterfront studio and cottage as an artist retreat for the next few months- a space where I can focus on my painting and have some distance from the busy pace of Seattle. It was an irresistible opportunity, especially since my sweetheart Darin Reid is able to join me. We’re both now orienting ourselves to the landscape and getting to know the critters all around. A reconnaissance canoe paddle up the bay and hours on the beach with binoculars have revealed the following: pigeon guillemots, common and barrow’s goldeneye ducks, buffleheads, kingfishers, snowy plovers, great blue herons, bald eagles, blue jays, northern flickers, canadian geese, and a garden snake.

I’m enjoying sketching as well and am developing oil paintings. I will post my progress on them soon- check back for updates!
