North Cascades Panoramas
I spent a glorious last week in the North Cascades mountains, just a few hours from Seattle. I love this region, and it’s also near and dear to my interest in ice with the highest concentration of glaciers in the lower 48 states. I’m gathering new material and inspiration for a series of paintings I plan to develop this winter, to expand my North Cascades project. The wide panoramas of the high country particularly captivate me. Here is a small series I completed from the trip. See related sketches and learn about using ink and watercolor.

Love the rock, dear Maria and the peaks! Expresses the abiding dilemma in the richness of nature: where to look? You are truly loving your working in partnership with Darin. Maman

I love the paintings, but I think I always get the biggest kick out of the photos showing how you work in the field.

Yes, I also enjoy seeing how you work in the field. I like to see what your lightweight art supplies are. It amazes me how you are able to achieve with your sketches using an abbreviated setup. Your Cascades Panorama (banner) is absolutely fantastic.
