Lake Ann is in the foothills of Mt. Baker, Washington, and is a popular day hike as well as base-camp for climbing Mt. Shucksan. I camped there with the North Cascades Research Project in 2007 to monitor the Mt. Shucksan’s Lower Curtis glacier. During our first dinner, the clouds alternated between engulfing us in grey and coyly lifting up into the hills.
