I completed this painting Fall 2008 and it was inspired by my time accompanying a glacier monitoring scientist on the Castle Glacier in the Cariboo Mountains, British Columbia. The accumulation zone is on the upper part of the glacier and while I was roped up with the team up there, we proceeded slowly to avoid crevasses. It was a wild, windy day and cloud shadows danced across the ice.
This painting is floating (no mat so you see the beautiful deckle of the paper) in a 1.5″ wide walnut beveled frame, hand-made in Seattle by Plasteel Frames. The materials are all archival and the piece finished with framer’s grade plexi-glass.
