Natural History Network

Posted

I’m off for the week to the University of Washington’s Pack Forest Conference Center, tucked in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, where I’ll be participating in a workshop examining how to revitalize the role of natural history in education. The workshop is sponsored by the Natural History Network, which aims to bring together professionals from various fields of natural history- the arts, humanities, science, and education- to establish a network of people who can create and support tangible and practical ways to encourage environmental awareness. During the workshop, my multi-media storytelling friends, Benj Drummond and Sara Steele, will record conversations and take photographs to feature on the website, From Decline to Rebirth: The Natural History Initiative (which my husband Darin Reid programmed- small world!) It currently features marvelous materials from previous workshops. I’ll post news later this week. Wish me luck!
