Journaling

Here are some of my journals from my trip to the Cariboo Mountains (if you click on the images, larger versions should load). My new system for the field is to carry a small sketchbook with me that has replaceable signatures (stapled together leaflets- I love my long-arm stapler). This is my “hip pocket” book that I can carry everywhere and use for sketching and painting with a pigma micron pen and waterbrush pen. In the evenings I fill pages for my sketchbook binder, adding details and stories to my day. While in the mountains, I noted where I could paste in my smaller sketches (or copies of them) and once home, put everything together and added color to anything I didn’t complete in the field. I’m pleased so far with the system! My goal is to have my fieldwork well organized and accessible so I can return to it and find inspiration.
